Branciforte Fire serves approximately 3,500 residents. It is located within the Wildland/Urban interface with homes in highly wooded and hilly areas. There are several vineyards, orchards and farms. Within the District there is an elementary school, a conference center, and a tourist location called The Mystery Spot.

Minimum staffing is one paid captain working a 48/96 shift. Captains are driver/operators as well. There is usually a volunteer firefighter on duty with the paid captain. This firefighter may be a driver/operator and will take this responsibility from the captain if need be. Often, there is a 3rd firefighter either on duty or training at the station available for any calls. All volunteers have pagers and are available at any given time. They may respond in thier private vehicle to a scene or backfill the station for additional coverage or to staff another engine if needed.

For almost all the calls, 2603 is dispatched as well. 2603 is a paid captain responding from home in a command vehicle. He will take over Incident Command from the captain once on scene.

The Branciforte Fire Protection District provides fire protection and suppression, EMS at a BLS level (there are approximately 10 firefighters trained and licensed as Paramedics, but can only render BLS care at the moment),and in county and out of county wildland fire response.

Branciforte Fire runs approximately 170 calls on average a year. 75% are medicals and MVAs. The rest of the calls consist of trees down, wires down, landslides, fires, and public service calls.
